Containment measures: 

The trials will be done in accordance with to the Belgian protocol for transgenic sugar beets (valid for the year 1999).

Monitoring measures: 

After the trial the field will be monitored during 2 seasons. Sugar beets are only tested during the vegetative stage. Bolters and volunteer plants will be destroyed.

Status: 

- The Biosafety Advisory Council a.i. issued a positive advice (with conditions) for this field trial.- Authorization procedure completed. The notifier was granted authorization from the Federal Minister to perform the trial.
